Cabinetry
Considering the elements of a kitchen or bathroom remodel, your cabinets will make the strongest visual statement. They may also have the biggest impact on your wallet. Therefore, understanding all of your options is vital to the outcome of your remodel. The major factors that will affect your decision are price, manufacturer, quality, door material, style and finish, storage options and accessories, and number of cabinets needed.
Cabinetry falls into one of three basic types:
- Custom Cabinetry
- Semi-Custom Cabinetry
- Stock Cabinetry
Custom Cabinetry
Locally built in the Bay Area, this cabinet type offers the most variety. Custom cabinets can match any color and have virtually no limitations. This type of cabinetry can be expensive and may require a minimum of 6-10 weeks for delivery.

Semi-Custom Cabinetry
Semi-custom cabinets are partly stock and partly custom. This means you get better choices versus stock cabinetry, but more reasonably priced than custom cabinetry. These cabinets are made as soon as the order is placed so the turnaround time is respectable at 4-6 weeks. Semi-custom cabinets are mostly built to spec with a wide selection of doors and finishes.
Meyer specializes in Semi-Custom Cabinetry and we have partnered with other Cabinet Makers that expands our cabinet choices to well over 1000 finishes, styles and storage combinations.
Stock Cabinetry
Stock cabinets offer a quality and durable finish. Stock cabinets offer a limited selection of styles, finishes, etc and doesn’t always fit well into a kitchen. This type of cabinetry leaves spaces between some sections and can make a kitchen look incomplete because of the wasted use of space. However, for some families, the cost savings and delivery time make it a decent choice for investment properties and starter homes.
