Bathroom Cabinetry
Your choice of cabinetry will be a key factor in your bathroom remodel. Not only will your cabinets will make a strong visual statement, but much like in kitchens, the selection of the type of cabinetry may also have the biggest impact on your wallet. Therefore, understanding all of your options is vital. Major factors that will affect your decision are: price, manufacturer, quality, door material, style and finish, storage options and accessories, and number of cabinets needed.
Bathroom cabinets must keep a balance between practical necessities and aesthetic elements. It’s important to choose carefully to make sure your cabinetry meets your needs while also adding to the beauty of the space. At Meyer, we can help you to select fixtures and cabinetry that will last and look beautiful.
Cabinetry falls into one of three basic types:
- Custom Cabinetry
- Semi-Custom Cabinetry
- Stock Cabinetry
Custom Cabinetry
Locally built in the Bay Area, this cabinet type offers the most variety. Custom cabinets can match any color and have virtually no limitations. However, many custom cabinet makers do not offer the latest finishes and accessories, which may require expensive machinery. This type of cabinetry can also be expensive and may require a minimum of 6-10 weeks for delivery. For bathrooms, custom cabinetry can be a good choice where space is limited or unusual fit is desired. Meyer can help put you in touch with the right cabinetry for your custom needs.
Semi-Custom Cabinetry
Semi-custom cabinets are partly stock and partly custom. This means you get better choices, sometimes comparable to stock cabinetry, but more reasonably priced than custom cabinetry. These cabinets are made as soon as the order is placed, so the turnaround time is respectable at 4-6 weeks. Semi-custom cabinets are mostly built to specification, with a wide selection of doors and finishes.
Meyer specializes in Semi-Custom Cabinetry, and we have partnered with other Cabinet Makers that expands our cabinet choices to well over 1000 finishes, styles and storage combinations. We can help you find the right choice for your bathroom project.

Stock Cabinetry
Stock cabinets can offer good quality and durable finish at reasonable rates. However, stock cabinets offer a limited selection of styles, finishes, etc. and do not always fit well into bathrooms, since this type of cabinetry is often prefabricated and comes in predetermined sizes and sections. However, for some families, the cost savings and delivery time make it a decent choice for investment properties and starter homes. It can also be an inexpensive way to bring an older bathroom up to date. With clean, modern styling, your space can easily be updated with stock cabinetry.
